2. Open Excel sorting practice (on S drive and Weebly)
3. Notice: James White customer number is 10289 and he made 13 purchases.
4. Sort by Last name - is the data correct for James White?
5. Sort by customer number - check to see data is correct.

Screen Cast Introduction

Hello,  This week we're going to be working with a site you can use to create tutorials.  Many of you have used tutorials on YouTube and/or iTunes and now you'll learn how to create some of your own.

Below is a sample tutorial created as a demonstration.  As you watch it, I'd like you to notice a few things

1. First, always introduce yourself, and let your audience know exactly what you will be covering in your demonstration. 
2. Explain what you are doing as you go along. 
3. Each movement of the mouse should have a purpose, otherwise it can confuse the audience.
4. Speak clearly and loud enough so the audience doesn't have to strain to understand.  Keep the speed at an easy pace to follow, not too fast.
5. At the end, summarize what you have covered.  This helps the audience remember key points.
6. Give a friendly closing statement

It's Called Work for a Reason

"I had an employee who insisted on doing personal things at her desk. She told me that it was her desk and none of my business. Easy Fix! Thirty seconds later, it was no longer her desk."

Larry Winget included the above quote in his book It's Called Work for a Reason. The quote points out the wrong thinking of some employees. Here is a passage from the book:
  
Many workers believe the company is there to serve them, instead of the truth—they're there to serve the company. They have a sense of entitlement. This bothers me. Your company owes you a safe working environment. That's about it!

The company doesn't exist to make you happy. It exists to make a profit so you can be paid to serve customers and the company can remain profitable to pay you again. That's the cycle of business. Try to facilitate that cycle to the best of your ability.

Welcome to Online B Class

Welcome to Lang's Online B class.   Yes we will be working with blogs again this term.  
Post comments are all worth points so when leaving a comment, you will be required to key your first and last name along with your hour in order to get credit for your work.  Be sure to read and respond to all questions on the posts.

Part 1:  Introduce yourself to me - tell me about your interests and hobbies.  What makes you smile?  Due by Wednesday, March 27.

Part 2:  INTERVIEW (due Friday)
Talk to your parents and/or (two adults over 30) who work full time. 
Questions to ask: 

1. Where do you work?
2. What is your position? (Name of position)
3. What kind of work do they do? (type of tasks performed)
4. What type of education was needed (high school diploma, 2 yr or apprenticeship, 4 yr degree or more?)
5.  Do you enjoy your job?  How do they feel when they are getting ready for work - are they dreading going in or are they happy?  Now I realize people go to work to make a living but that doesn't mean people don't like working.  We are interested in how they feel about their job.  What kind of work do they do.   List the following on your post.
